Bolts bested by Ottawa in middle game

BOX SCORE

CRESTWOOD, IL – The Windy City ThunderBolts dropped the second game of the series against the Ottawa Titans in a 4-2 game at Ozinga Field on Saturday night.

Taylor Sugg received the loss, tossing six innings and letting up eight hits, while Zac Westcott grabbed the win for Ottawa (33-32) going all nine innings and giving up eight hits.

The ThunderBolts (26-38) kick started the offense in the bottom of the second inning with a Bren Spillane single. Jake Boone followed with an RBI double to put the score at 1-0. Jonathan Waite then reached base on a single, and Troy Viola hit a sacrifice fly to bring Boone home and settle the score at 2-0.

Ottawa answered in the top of the third with three runs of their own. David Mendham and Austin Davis got the bats going with a pair of doubles. Then former ThunderBolt Jason Dicochea brought them all home with a home run to left field putting the score at 3-2.

The Titans tacked on another run in the top of the fourth off a Davis RBI single making it 4-2.

The Bolts saw some light in the bottom of the sixth with a Micah Yonamine leadoff double, but he was stranded on second as the next three hitters were retired.

Sebastian Selway relieved Taylor Sugg, recording a strikeout and letting up two hits in the top of the seventh. Following Selway’s performance was Mike DeSanti in the top of the eighth. He punched out all three hitters, and Justin Miller closed out for Windy City while striking out two.

The Bolts and Titans square off tomorrow for the final game of the series at 1:05 CDT at Ozinga Field. Henry Omaña (4-0, 0.82) will take the mound for Windy City for the first time in over a month. Sunday is also a JULIE Family Day where after the game fans can take the field for autographs and play catch. Fans not in attendance can find the broadcast at wcthunderbolts.com
