Bolts Fall in Well-Pitched Game07/05/2022 8:23 PM
WASHINGTON, PA – The Windy City ThunderBolts lost a low-scoring affair against the Washington Wild Things, 4-1, on Tuesday night. It was the eighth straight loss for the Bolts (18-27). In a battle of left-handers on the mound, Miguel Ausua and Sandro Cabrera dealt scoreless innings in the first three frames. Windy City cracked the scoreboard first in the fourth inning. Josh Sandoval singled and scored on Nikola Vasic’s sacrifice fly. Ausua didn’t find trouble until the fifth. Andrew Czech led off with a single. The next hitter, Hector Roa, blasted a homer over the right field wall to push the Wild Things ahead. Ian Walters collected an RBI on a groundout to cap the three-run inning. In the seventh, Washington added an insurance run. Walters led off the inning with a single and scored. He scored two batters later on a throwing error by Brynn Martinez. The Bolts had chances, getting base runners on in seven of their nine at-bats, but stranded 13 runners on base. Cabera (5-2) earned the win with 6.2 innings of one-run ball. Ausua (1-4) took the loss with five innings on the mound and three runs across. Lukas Young (9) earned the save, striking out the side in the ninth.
