2008 Championship Rematch kicks off homestand

The Windy City ThunderBolts, 2007 and 2008 Frontier League Champions, return to Standard Bank Stadium on Tuesday, July 7, to open a six-game homestand against the Kalamazoo Kings and Traverse City Beach Bums. The Kalamazoo games are a rematch of the 2008 Frontier League Championship Series and conclude a nine-game stretch for the ThunderBolts against the three other playoff qualifiers from last season.

As with the entire 2009 season, all home games feature the ThunderBolts Value Menu, with hot dogs, fountain soft drinks, popcorn, and sno kones available for just $1 each!

Tuesday, July 7 is the ThunderBolts’ first Church Night of the 2009 season. The game is targeted towards area church youth groups, with special ticket packages, a pregame concert from Six Ways From Sunday, and messages from ThunderBolt players.

Wednesday, July 8 is the second Return of the Cheetahs throwback nights. As with last Wednesday, ThunderBolt players will wear replica jerseys representing the 1998 Heartland League Champion Cook County Cheetahs thanks to Santo Sports Store. The first 250 fans through the gate will receive a free Cook County Cheetah cap compliments of CloverLeaf Farms, and Girl Next Door will be performing prior to the game. Admission is a throwback as well, as drive-in movie theater pricing of $10 per carload will apply.

Thursday, July 9 is another Thirsty Thursday, with draft beer available for $1 throughout the game. Also, the first 1,000 adults (21 and over) will receive a free ThunderBolts pint glass from CITY Beverage.

Friday, July 10 opens the series with the Traverse City Beach Bums and is the ThunderBolts’ annual Campin’ Out night. Fans with a ticket for the game and a stakeless tent are welcome to spend the night in the outfield of Standard Bank Stadium. Friday’s game is also another Fill ‘R Up Friday, with draft beer available for $1.

Saturday, July 11 is another Saturday Night Fireworks, with a post-game display presented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Sunday, July 12 concludes the homestand with a Standard Bank Sunday. Fans can receive a free ticket with the purchase of one at face value by bringing in the coupon from area Standard Bank branches. Coupons are also available in the Regional/Reporter and Southwest Messenger Press family of newspapers. Sunday is also Irish Heritage Night, with $7 tickets for fans wearing a green shirt to the game that evening.

Game times for this upcoming homestand are 7:05 pm Tuesday-Saturday and 6:05 pm on Sunday. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit www.wcthunderbolts.com, stop by the Standard Bank Stadium box office, or call the team at 708-489-BALL (2255).
