Bolts 8 Aviators 4
ROCKFORD, IL – The ThunderBolts scored in the first six innings to take a big early lead on their way to an 8-4 victory over the Rockford Aviators at Aviators Stadium Monday night.
The Bolts scored a first-inning run for the fifth straight game when Mike Torres and Kyle Robinson walked and Ryan McIntyre singled home Torres. They added three runs in the second inning. Garrett Carey singled and scored on an Evan Button base hit. Torres then doubled home both Button and Mike McGuckin, who had singled earlier in the inning, making it 4-0.
Ryan Tufts’s RBI double in the third made it 5-0 and Robinson gave them their biggest lead of the night on a solo home run in the fourth to make the score 6-0.
Rockford put up a fight in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four times on six hits. Ryan Breen doubled home two runs and he scored on a Tyger Pederson double. Kyle Dhanani’s fielder’s choice later in the inning led to Pederson scoring to make it a two-run game.
The ThunderBolts, though, wasted no time in creating more distance. Davidson Peguero’s first career home run in the fifth made it 7-4 and McIntyre’s second RBI hit of the night, a sixth-inning single capped the score at 8-4.
Daniel Cropper (5-6) picked up the victory for the Bolts. He went six innings and allowed all four runs, but only gave up three hits outside of the fourth inning. Josh Slaats (3-4) took the loss for Rockford, allowing all eight runs over 5.1 innings of work.
