CRESTWOOD, IL – The Windy City ThunderBolts got off to a slow start on Tuesday night, but they’ll get a chance to regroup as rain washed out the final six innings of play between the Bolts and the Southern Illinois Miners. The game will be completed as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday evening at 5:05 at Standard Bank Stadium.
The Miners jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. They got a double from Ryan Cavan and a single from Matt Howard. They also benefitted from a pair of Windy City errors.
The Bolts had three hits in the first three innings, but were unable to score in the first two. In the third, Ryan Soares singled with two outs before the increasingly steady rain forced suspension. When the game picks up on Wednesday, Soares will be at first base with Kyle Robinson batting and a 3-0 score.
The ThunderBolts and Miners will play the game to its conclusion before Wednesday’s scheduled game will begin. Game two will run seven innings and will feature Daniel Cropper (1-1, 3.37) on the mound for the Bolts against Southern Illinois’ Miguel Ramirez (0-1, 5.58). The broadcast of both games can be heard on meridix.com.
