Y'alls sweep Bolts

FLORENCE, KY- The Windy City ThunderBolts dropped their third straight decision against the Florence Y’alls Sunday afternoon 11-0.

 

Florence all-star Craig Massey accumulated four RBIs in the game and scored two runs, leading Florence to the series sweep and their fifth straight win.

 

Florence (31-41) got on the board first when Hank Zeisler knocked an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning.  Moments later, Craig Massey singled to center, driving in two runs. A sacrifice fly from Harrison DiNicola made it 4-0. 

 

Carter Poiry started for the Y’alls and tossed three innings allowing zero runs on three hits while striking out four. 

 

Massey hit a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth for a 6-0 Y’alls lead.

 

Jeremiah Burks hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth, increasing the Florence lead to 7-0. The Y’alls took a 9-0 lead via a two-run single by Nick Wilmers. 

 

Ross Thompson (1-0) threw five scoreless innings for Florence, giving up just three hits while walking two and striking out five in his Frontier League debut. 

 

Bright spots on the afternoon include Paul Coumoulos going 3-4, and newly acquired RHP Erin Housson tossed two innings of scoreless baseball striking out three.

 

Windy City (30-41) starting pitcher Logan Schmitt (4-3) threw 4.1 innings, surrendering nine runs and nine hits, while walking two and striking out five.
