ThunderBolts shut out Titans

BOX SCORE

CRESTWOOD, IL - The ThunderBolts (27-38) pitching staff fired a gem in a 6-0 victory to wrap up a series at Ozinga Field against the Ottawa Titans (33-33).

After Henry Omana was forced to exit in his first start back following a nearly two-month absence, the Bolts bullpen stepped up in a big way. Omana retired the first eight batters he faced before exiting, then Cal Djuraskovic came in to finish the third inning.

Cole Bellair (2-7) picked up the victory as the second arm out of the ‘pen for Richie Sexson. Bellair tossed two scoreless frames and only allowed one of the two Titan hits in the entire ballgame.

Sebastian Selway, Justin Miller, Austin Marozas, and Daiveyon Whittle each threw an inning after Bellair to secure the win.

Gleyvin Pineda (2-2) collected the loss in his first start of 2023. The right-hander went two innings and allowed four runs on two hits.

Bren Spillane got the scoring started for the Bolts with his ninth home run of the season. The three-run blast with two outs in the bottom of the first inning got Windy City off to a strong start and gave them the momentum they needed in this ballgame.

Peyton Isaacson collected his 25th RBI on the season with a two-out base knock that plated Will Riley and gave the Bolts a 4-0 lead.

Dan Robinson added more insurance in the sixth with an RBI Triple that made it a 5-0 ballgame.

Micah Yonamine’s sac fly in the seventh capped off the scoring for Windy City at 6-0.

The Bolts are back in action at Ozinga Field on Tuesday against Lake Erie. It’s Value Tuesday at the ballpark, featuring $2 tickets and hot dogs. Reigning Frontier League Pitcher of the Week, Logan Schmitt (3-2, 3.92) is scheduled to take the ball for the Bolts. Fans not in attendance for Tuesday’s game can find the broadcast at wcthunderbolts.com.
