Evansville, IN – The Windy City ThunderBolts lost the opener of a three-game series against the Evansville Otters, 4-3, in extra innings Wednesday afternoon at Bosse Field. Zach Biermann hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th for the Otters.

The Bolts (11-10) took the first lead in a back-and-forth game. Peyton Isaacson delivered an RBI single in the top of the first to make it 1-0.

Windy City starting pitcher Garrett Christman didn’t allow a hit in his first four innings on the mound.

Christman found his first trouble in the 5th inning when Elijah MacNamee and Miles Gordon hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game, 1-1. A few batters later, Gary Mattis executed a safety squeeze, pushing across the go-ahead run for the Otters (13-9).

The Bolts quickly responded in the top of the 6th inning. Jake Boone blasted a solo homer to left field, tying the game, 2-2. The following inning, Jairus Richards collected a go-ahead double.

Windy City held on to its 3-2 lead until there were two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the ninth. Then, Miles Gordon hit a solo homer over the wall in right, tying the game.

In the 10th inning, the Bolts failed to score with an automatic runner at second and no one out. In the bottom half, Biermann walked it off with a single through the right side of the infield.
