Bolts Suffer Loss by Same Score on Consecutive Nights

EVANSVILLE, IN – The Windy City ThunderBolts lost game two of a three-game series, 6-2, to the Evansville Otters on Wednesday night at Bosse field, the same final score as game one. The loss evened the Bolts (36-43) record on the nine-game road trip to 4-4.

Like game one, the Bolts took an early lead on a Rob Weissheier RBI. Tonight, he hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

Evansville answered with three extra base hits and three runs in the bottom of the first. Dakota Phillips collected an RBI single. Jeffrey Baez hit his second homer of the series, a two-run blast to make it 3-1.

The Bolts cut it to a one-run game in the fourth on a pair of doubles. Brynn Martinez started the rally with a two-bagger and scored on Donivan Williams’ extra base knock.

However, Evansville pulled away in the later innings. Josh Allen recorded a sacrifice fly in the seventh. In the eighth, an RBI single from Gary Mattis made it a three-run game. Mattis later scored on a wild pitch.

Kenny Mathews (6-9) took the loss for the Bolts, allowing three runs in six innings. Ryan O’Reilly (5-3) earned the win, throwing seven innings of two-run ball.

The Bolts and Otters play the final game of the series on Thursday at 6:35 PM. For live coverage and tickets, fans can visit wcthunderbolts.com
