Bolts Lose Third Straight

JOLIET, IL – The Windy City ThunderBolts were handed their third consecutive loss, a 10-4 setback against the Joliet Slammers at DuPage Medical Group Field on Friday night. The ThunderBolts (4-4) fell victim to a powerful Slammers (5-4) offense that hit five homers.

Joliet’s Brylie Ware hit two of Joliet’s five homers. His first, a two-run shot in the opening inning scored the Slammers a 2-0 lead. The Bolts battled back to tie the game, 2-2, on Dan Robinson’s RBI single in the second. After a Patrick Causa solo homer, Ware came to the plate again in the second inning and blasted a three-run homer to make it 6-2 Joliet.

Braxton Davidson and Kyle Jacobsen hit solo homers in the third and fifth, adding to the Slammers big night.

The Bolts created offensive chances in almost every inning. In seven of their nine trips to the plate, at least one base runner reached. However, Windy City stranded 10 runners, including the bases loaded in the first and third.

On the mound, Jake Fisher (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 3.1 innings. Bobby Kametas and Stetson Woods combined for 3.2 innings of one-run ball out of the pen. Outfielder Jairus Richards pitched the ninth and surrendered two runs.

Keaton Sullivan (1-0) earned the win for the Slammers with four shutout innings. Miguel Samuel (1) picked up his first save of the year, recording the final nine outs of the game.
