Joliet knocks out ThunderBolts in 11th inning

JOLIET, IL – Peyton Isaacson singled home Harrison Bragg in the bottom of the 11th inning for the Joliet Slammers capping their 5-4 win over the ThunderBolts at DuPage Medical Group Field Saturday night.
 
The Slammers (19-31) took an early lead as, one pitch after a dropped foul ball extended the first inning, Dash Winningham socked a two-run homer.
 
The score was 2-0 into the third, when Trey Fulton hit a leadoff double for the ThunderBolts (22-27). Justin Smith followed with a single and Brynn Martinez hit a two-run triple to even the score. Later in the inning, Martinez came home on a wild pitch to give the Bolts their first lead.
 
London Lindley tied it up all on his own in the fifth inning as he reached on an infield single, stole second and third and came home on an error.
 
That tie didn’t last long with the ThunderBolts reclaiming the lead in the sixth. Shane Carrier doubled and scored on a Brett Coffel sacrifice fly.
 
The ThunderBolts came within four outs of winning the game, carrying their 4-3 lead into the eighth when Bragg, who had doubled, scored on a wild pitch, tying the game at four.
 
In the bottom of the 11th inning, Bragg stood at second base as the tiebreaker runner when Isaacson singled to bring him home for the winning run.
 
Chris Washington did not allow an earned run over seven innings but did not factor in the decision as Joliet’s Ryan Koziol (3-2) picked up the win with three perfect innings out of the bullpen. Colby Blueberg (1-1) faced only one batter and took the loss.
