Titans triumph over Bolts 6-2

BOX SCORE

OTTAWA, ONTARIO- The Windy City ThunderBolts dropped the second game of a three game set 6-2 Wednesday evening against the Ottawa Titans at Ottawa Stadium.

Windy City (13-22) starting pitcher Kenny Mathews left the game after retiring his first and only batter of the contest on a ground ball to first base. Right-handed throwing Cole Bellair came in the contest with one out and nobody on base in relief of Mathews in the bottom of the first inning.

In the top of the third inning, Bolts first baseman Micah Yonamine crushed a pitch down the third base side off the top of the glove of leaping Ottawa (15-20) third baseman A.J. Wright. With the base knock, Yonamine extended his hitting streak to seven games with at least a hit.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Titans took the lead following an RBI double by Titans' left fielder Even Berkey for  a 1-0 Ottawa lead.

Sparking a five-run third inning for the Titans, Berkey cracked a two run single into left field notching a 3-0 Titans lead. Jackie Urbaez joined the party, knocking a two-run single into left field off Bellair and a commanding 6-0 Titans lead.

Until the top of the ninth inning, the game did not see a scoring change from the conclusion of the third inning. Windy City pitchers Justin Miller and Sebastian Selway threw a combined three innings of scoreless relief.

Peyton Isaacson hit a lead off single in the top of the ninth off Ottawa starting pitcher Grant Larson. Junior Martina tripled home Isaacson in the following at bat scraping the scoreboard for the first time in the ball game. Paul Coumoulos hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth to center field, denting the final score to 6-2. Six Windy City players recorded a hit in the ballgame, however Isaccson was the only ThunderBolt possessing a multi-hit game in the loss.

Larson (3-4) threw eight innings and struck out seven, while giving up five hits on zero runs while walking one for this third win of the season.

Bellair tossed 4.2 innings, enduring eight hits and six earned runs, while issuing four walks and striking out two in the defeat.

Windy City looks for the series win against the Ottawa Titans tomorrow night for a 5:30 CT first pitch at Ottawa Stadium. Garrett Christman (2-2, 2.04) is slated to take the mound for the ThunderBolts.
