Déja “Lu”: Lujano Walks Off on Bolts Again

TROY, NY – For the second straight night, the Windy City ThunderBolts lost in walk-off fashion to the Tri-City ValleyCats, a 7-6 defeat on Saturday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. It was also the second straight night Jesus Lujano delivered the walk-off hit for Tri-City.

The ThunderBolts (3-6) scored the first six runs of the game. In the second inning, Peyton Isaacson delivered an RBI single. With the bases loaded and two outs, Jake Boone appeared to pop out to shortstop, but a balk was called, forcing in the second run. With Boone back at the plate, he collected an RBI single to make it 3-0.

In the top of the third, Manny Garcia hit his first Bolts homer, a three-run shot, extending the lead to 6-0.

The ValleyCats crept back into the game in the fifth inning. Three straight run scoring hits from the top three batters in the order – Brantley Bell, Jesus Lujano and Juan Santana - made it 6-4.

The Bolts saw their lead evaporate in the bottom of the 8th when Juan Silverio belted a game-tying two-run homer.

In the bottom of the 9th, Jonah Girand doubled with two outs, setting up Lujano’s game-winning single.

Justin Miller (1-1) took the loss. Adam Hofacket (3-0) earned the win.

The ThunderBolts will try to salvage a game in Sunday’s series finale. Miguel Ausua makes his second start on the mound for Windy City against Tri-City’s Joey Gonzales.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 CDT. The broadcast can be found at wcthunderbolts.com.
