SCHAUMBURG, IL – The Windy City ThunderBolts allowed 10 runs in the first four innings in a 12-3 loss to the Schaumburg Boomers on Tuesday night at Wintrust Field. The ThunderBolts (9-14) lost their sixth game in a row.

In the bottom of the first, the Boomers (13-11) scored on three RBI singles. Angelo Gumbs, Luke Becker and Clint Hardy drove in runs. The Bolts sliced the deficit in half in the next inning with bases loaded walks by Jairus Richards and Rob Calabrese.

In the bottom of the second, the Boomers stretched the lead to 7-2 on Quincy Nieporte’s two-run homer and Clint Hardy’s sacrifice fly. The early offense carried into the fourth for the Boomers. Matt Bottcher collected an RBI double. Two batters later, Hardy added to his big night with a two-run homer, making it 10-2 Schaumburg.

The Bolts grabbed a run in the seventh on Rob Calabrese’s sacrifice fly. But, the Boomers one-upped the Bolts with two seventh inning runs of their own to go up 12-3.

Layne Schnitz-Paxton (0-1) suffered his first professional loss, allowing seven runs in 1.1 innings. Orlando Rodriguez (2-1) earned the win for Schaumburg, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing two runs (one earned).

The Bolts and Boomers continue the three-game series Wednesday night, starting at 6:30 CT. Jake Fisher (1-2, 6.65) takes the ball for the Bolts. Coverage begins at 6:15. Listen live on 88.3 WXAV.
