CRESTWOOD, IL – Zac Westcott struck out a career-high 11 in his first career complete game shutout as the Bolts salvaged game two of a doubleheader with the Lake Erie Crushers 6-0. The Crushers came from behind for a 5-3 win in game one. Game one was the completion of a suspended game that began on June 29 and play resumed on Tuesday night with the Bolts (42-36) trailing 2-0 in the third. They clawed back with single runs in the third, fourth and sixth. They got two RBI singles from Tim Zier and an RBI groundout from Keenyn Walker to capture the 3-2 lead. Lake Erie (37-41) tied it in the seventh on a Jordan Dean RBI single. They reclaimed the lead the next inning as Bryan De La Rosa doubled and came home on a groundout. They added an insurance run in the ninth on a wild pitch. Justin Sinibaldi (4-3) earned the win out of the bullpen and John Jaeger (0-1) took the loss, allowing the winning run. Westcott came out strong in game two, retiring the first eight batters he faced. Nick Deeg matched him through the first three innings but the Bolts broke through in the fourth. With two men on, Zack Jones doubled to break the scoreless tie. A throwing error on the play allowed two more runs to score, making it 3-0. They tacked on with a solo homer from Coco Johnson in the fifth and a two-run Ransom LaLonde double in the sixth to put it away. Westcott (6-4) got the win, allowing only five baserunners in seven innings. Deeg (1-2) allowed three earned runs in five innings for the loss. The series continues with game three on Wednesday. TJ Santiago (3-4, 5.82) gets the start for the ThunderBolts against Lake Erie’s Adam Quintana (3-4, 3.51). It is “Win It Wednesday” at Standard Bank Stadium. If the Bolts win, all tickets become vouchers for any other home game in 2017. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 and the broadcast can be heard through wcthunderbolts.com. |
