Bolts bounce back, beat Lake Erie

Bolts 4 Crushers 2

AVON, OH – The ThunderBolts scored three runs in the fourth inning to erase their early deficit and defeat the Lake Erie Crushers 4-2 at Sprenger Stadium Saturday night.

In the top of the third, the ThunderBolts (26-39) scored their first run. Joe Becht walked and Omar Obregon doubled him in. The hit gave Obregon a 15-game hitting streak and put the first earned run on Lake Erie starter Micah Beyer in his four starts.

The ThunderBolts sent eight men to the plate and took the lead in the fourth inning. Tyler Straub and Blair Beck singled and Riley Krane was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Terrance Robertson singled home two runs to make the score 3-2. Obregon’s bunt single scored Krane to put the Bolts ahead 4-2.

Eddie Avila settled in after allowing the second-inning home run and allowed only three hits the rest of the night. Avila (1-5) went six innings total and earned his first professional victory. Three ThunderBolt relievers combined to throw the final three innings scoreless to seal the win.

The Crushers threatened with two runners on base in the sixth but left them on. They had men at the corners in the eighth inning but again were unable to score.

Beyer (0-1) allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss. Devin Raftery pitched the ninth inning to garner his eighth save.
