Williams dazzles in 5-1 win![]() Dustin Williams SCHAUMBURG, IL – Dustin Williams allowed just two hits in a complete game victory Monday night as the ThunderBolts beat the Boomers 5-1 at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium. Brandon Decker gave the Bolts the lead in the second inning, breaking out of an 0-12 slump with a solo home run, his fifth of the year to make it 1-0. Windy City added three runs in the fourth. Zach Aakhus walked and Travis Weaver singled putting runners at first and second with two outs. Mike Torres then lined a ball out to right field that Nate Baumann couldn’t handle, allowing two runs to score on an error. Torres scored on a Chris Wade double. Williams, meanwhile, had retired the first ten Schaumburg hitters into the bottom of the fourth. Sean Mahley broke his perfect streak by homering to right to make the score 4-1. Williams, though, followed the homer by setting down another seven in a row. The ThunderBolts scored their last run in the eighth when Andy Chriscaden singled and Decker was hit by a pitch. Aakhus singled, his third hit of the game, to give Windy City a 5-1 lead. The story of the game, though, was Williams, who allowed only three baserunners. He walked Karexon Sanchez in the sixth and Ty Nelson singled in the eighth, both with two outs. Williams struck out nine, including the last three men in the ninth. It was his first complete game of the year and the sixth of his career. Williams improved to 4-2 with the win and Robbie Penny (2-3) took the loss. The win makes the Bolts 5-0 against Schaumburg this year. The Bolts will go for the sweep on Tuesday night at 6:30 at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium. Blayne Weller (0-0) will get the start for the ThunderBolts against the Boomers’ Shane Prance (0-0). The game broadcast can be heard on sportsjuice.com. |
