The Napoleon Harris Foundation would like to thank UBS, U. S. Cellular, Colvin's Printing, Precious Images, the NFL, Jerzey Boys, American Street Mortgage, Incite Graphics, and the Windy City ThunderBolts for sponsoring the Napoleon Harris Celebrity Softball Game.

The Napoleon Harris Foundation is a charity designed by the Kansas City Chiefs’ linebacker to help students from underprivileged families pursue higher education by attending college, and to provide programs to help the economical, social, and physical needs of children and families.

Harris was raised in a single parent household after the death of his father. Mrs. Brenda Harris raised her children on her own, and instilled in them a positive work ethic and strong desire for education. Through the support and encouragement of his mother, Napoleon excelled in academics and attended Northwestern University, where he received his undergraduate degree in Communications. He also played football for the Wildcats and he was drafted in the 1st Round (23rd pick) of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders.

It is important to Napoleon to give back to his community in a tangible way, and impact the lives of students with whom he can identify.

"I have achieved so much in my life both on and off the field,” Napoleon said. “However, it is my ambition for this foundation to reach the children that need it the most and have the least amount of access to obtain scholarship assistance. I do believe that charity begins at home. My goal is to raise funds, in order to help in the educational development of young adults and support other viable causes.”

Harris has created several scholarship programs, a children's nutrition and fitness program, and a mentoring program to assist students and children across the country. Proceeds from the upcoming softball game will help to benefit those programs in the Napoleon Harris Foundation.

Several NFL players and celebrities have expressed interest in coming to play in the game in addition to Harris himself. Chicago Bears tackle Tommie Harris, Bears return specialist and wide receiver Devin Hester, Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, Bears wide receiver Mark Bradley, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson, Chiefs cornerback Pat Surtain, Chiefs running back Larry Johnson, Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney, Minnesota Vikings linebacker E.J. Henderson, Houston Texans linebacker Kevin Bentley, Carolina Panthers safety Chris Harris, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Greg Lewis, Washington Redskins wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, 2007 Dallas Cowboys fullback Zack Crockett, Former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Warren Sapp, Minnesota Timberwolves Antoine Walker, Miami Heat forward Shawn Marion, Singer Brian McKnight and more hope to attend.

Tickets are $12 and proceeds benefit the Napoleon Harris Foundation. Gates open at 4:30 at Standard Bank Stadium with first pitch at 6:00. On Saturday, the weekend continues with a celebrity golf outing. For more information, you can also visit www.napoleonharris.com.
