SCHAUMBURG, IL – The Windy City ThunderBolts won their second straight game with a 3-1 triumph over the Schaumburg Boomers on Wednesday night at Wintrust Field. It’s the first time the Bolts (13-23) have won consecutive games since June 11-12 vs. Gateway.

Similar to game one of the series, the Bolts took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on two runs produced by Peyton Isaacson. Tonight, Isaacson made Schaumburg (19-18) starter Kyle Arjona pay for a walk to Dan Robinson and an error on the pitcher to give the Bolts the early advantage.

Bolts’ starter Tyler Thornton didn’t allow a hit through three innings. In the fourth, the Boomers touched Thornton for the first time, using three singles to cut the Bolts lead to 2-1. The third hit of the inning, a Nick Ames knock, scored the run.

After the run scored, Thornton went right back into shutdown mode, retiring the next 10 hitters. Thornton (4-4) finished the night with seven innings of one-run ball, earning the win.

In his professional debut, Rob Weissheier gave the Bolts insurance with an RBI triple in the seventh. That was enough for the Bolts bullpen to lock the game down. Dylan Prohoroff faced the minimum in a scoreless eighth. Danny Zardon (2) nailed down his second save in as many nights, striking out the side in a 1-2-3 ninth.

Kyle Arjona (4-4) took the loss, giving up all three Bolts runs in seven innings of work.
