Proceeds to Benefit “Ignite the Spirit”
Chicago Hardball: Who will win this year’s hardball classic?
Local 2 Chicago Firefighters Union announced today their fifth “Almost Annual” charity baseball game pitting the Fire Department NewYork Bravest Firefighters vs. Chicago’s Bravest Firefighters.
Along with playing for bragging rights the teams will donate proceeds from each ten dollar ticket to “Ignite the Spirit” www.ignitethespirit.org.
Fans attending Friday evening’s contest will be treated to fireworks and one dollar beers. Parking is complementary at lots adjoining the stadium.
The Big City Classic, (that is a two game series) will be held on Friday, July 16th and Saturday, July 17th at 7:00 PM. At Standard Bank Stadium (Home of the Windy City ThunderBolts) at 14011 S. Kenton Avenue, Crestwood, IL. Tickets are available at the box office.
There will be opening ceremonies for Friday’s game, including the Chicago Fire Department Pipes and Drums and Honor Guard. The ceremony will also include a special tribute to fallen Homewood, Ill. firefighter Brian Carey, who lost his life this past March, while performing his duty.
