The Windy City ThunderBolts and the Frontier League are proud to release the 2020 season schedule.  This is a special season for the Frontier League after welcoming five new teams from the Can-Am League.  The Frontier League is now the oldest and biggest independent league in the country as the footprint expands to New York, New Jersey, and Canada.  Joining the circuit for 2020 are the New Jersey Jackals (Little Falls, NJ), Quebec City Capitales (Canada), Rockland Boulders (Pomona, NY), Sussex County Miners (Augusta, NJ) and Trois-Rivières Aigles (Quebec, Canada).  With the River City Rascals ceasing operations, the league will stand at 14 teams for the upcoming summer.

The league’s division structure will see plenty of change as well. The five new clubs, in addition to Washington and Lake Erie, will now make up the newly formed Can-Am Division.  The ThunderBolts will be joined by Evansville, Florence, Gateway, Joliet, Southern Illinois, and Schaumburg in the Midwest Division.  The Frontier League season will remain a 96-game schedule with the top two teams in each division advancing to the postseason.  The schedule format is unbalanced for 2020, as teams will only play 9 of their possible 13 opponents both at home and on the road.  Teams will then play a single three-game series against the remaining four opponents.

The ThunderBolts will open the 2020 season in Crestwood on Thursday, May 14th in a School Day at 10:35 am vs. Schaumburg.  It is only the second time in club history that the Bolts will open with a day game (other time was 2006).  In fact, Windy City will open with two straight School Day games before a true “Opening Night” celebration with fireworks on Saturday, May 16th.

Game times will continue to be 7:05 pm starts Tuesday – Friday, 6:05 pm on Saturday and 2:05 pm on Sunday’s.  Special 6:05 pm starts for weekday firework nights are on Wednesday, June 17th and Thursday, July 2nd.  The number of 10:35 am morning day games will increase to nine as the ThunderBolts are bringing back a June Splash Day.  The five School Days are scheduled for May 14th, 15th, 19th, 20th, & 21st.  The four Splash Days will be on June 29th and July 21st-23rd.

The ThunderBolts are bringing back fireworks on both Friday's and Saturday’s, as well as a special show on Thursday, July 2nd to kick off the Independence Weekend celebration!  Our full promotional schedule with giveaways and special theme nights will be announced at a later time.  Group tickets such as Executive Suites, all-you-can-eat Picnics, and our popular #WinCity Party Patio will go on-sale Monday, November 4th.  Please call (708) 489-2255 for more information and we look forward to seeing you at the ballpark in 2020!
